Transport Hartford is a community-organized, neighborhood-based advocacy group for better public transportation, walking and cycling infrastructure with a focus on the city of Hartford, Connecticut and its connections to neighboring communities.
Rather than just focus on one of these elements--buses, pedestrians, or bicyclists--Transport Hartford will emphasize the interdependence of infrastructure for bikes, pedestrians, and public transit users and advocate for improvements in all three of these areas at once. It's pretty simple really--if we're going to build a new bus stop or train station, we need to make sure it is convenient and safe to get to on foot or on a bike. If we're going to make the city better for bicycling, we also have to improve the connectivity of its bus network so that people with bikes have ways to make longer trips more easily. If we want to have a more urban, walkable city, we have to fix our streets to make them safe for all users. |
